My camarades in arms, Canadian men and women in uniform from all walks of life, are gallantly fighting to help re-establish a stable and democratic government in Afghanistan so that their people can live in peace. Our sons and daughters are fighting and dying for something our countrymen and women take for granted here, within the sanctity of our own borders - basic human rights and freedoms. Others, are also serving to maintain the peace in other hostile areas of the world for the United Nations. May we never forget the ultimate sacrifice these fine men and women have made in the fight to safeguard our way of life. Our collective thoughts are with their families as they grieve their losses.

	Cpl Kevin Megeney Accidentally shot in the chest, March 6, 2007 This young soldier's loss hits particularly close to home. Young Kevin was a student of mine on the Correctional and Policing Foundations Program at Success College in Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia. Kevin was an exceptional young man. He was loyal to his classmates, very respectful to his instructors and school staff, and very trustworthy. Kevin was a real stand-up guy - he will be missed.
